FAQ - The most frequently asked questions about AIXPLORER
1. Which parts of the body are protected by the "AIXPLORER" and what features does it have?
The AIXPLORER airbag vests protect the entire upper body, in particular:
Spine

The AIXPLORER S-Line model also protects:

All models incorporate the patented EquiAirbag® technology.
2. Where and how is the EquiAirbag® attached?
The deployment cable is simply attached to the saddle by clicking it into the front eyelet of the martingale. In the event of a fall, the cable automatically detaches from the airbag system.
Deployment time: approx. 60 milliseconds
Full deployment: approx. 80 milliseconds
Within a fraction of a second, the airbag reliably protects the upper body.
3. Does the cable bother me?
No! It might feel a little unusual at first, but you’ll hardly notice the cable and it won’t hinder any of your movements, as it’s very stretchy.
WARNING!
Please do NOT forget to detach the cable from the saddle before dismounting, otherwise the airbag will be activated unintentionally.
4. How is the EquiAirbag® activated?
In the event of a fall, or as soon as you move away from the horse with any significant force (for example, when dismounting), the trigger cable is severed from the airbag. The activation time in this case is 60mS. This disconnection of the cable activates the built-in pin, which causes the screwed-in CO₂ cartridge to explode.
The CO₂ gas then flows through the one-piece airbag within 80 ms, causing it to inflate fully. With the “AIXPLORER” models, the entire vest inflates around you.
5. How mobile am I with the airbag activated?
In the event of a fall, you can tuck your chin towards your sternum and roll off the horse without any difficulty, or move away from the horse in a dangerous situation. It makes sense to practise falling correctly beforehand – not just when using airbag products.
If you happen to trigger the airbag accidentally with your riding crop during a competition, you can still continue riding, as ultimately only your seat (on the “AIXPLORER S-Line” model) will no longer be perfect. The CO₂ that has been released escapes relatively quickly.
6. Is the EquiAirbag® reusable?
Yes. After deployment, the CO₂ cartridge can be replaced and the vest reused, provided the airbag has not been damaged.
7. How do I refill the EquiAirbag®?
To refill ‘EquiAirbag®’ and ‘Aixplorer’ products, all you need is the small screwdriver, which is included free of charge with the airbag, and a replacement cartridge.

Here's how it works:
- * Open the zipper
- * Unscrew the exploded cartridge
- * Squeeze the remaining air out of the airbag (like an air mattress)
- * Screw the tool into the thread with the outer screw (but do not tighten all the way, leave 1-2 mm of space)
- * Now screw the inner long screw (which has a handle) into the thread
- * After a moment you will feel resistance, you simply have to move past it. You can see that the shutter release brackets are closing
- * As soon as you have continued turning against the resistance and the clamps have closed and opened again, the ball of the release cable is inserted between the clamps (it is best to hold your thumb on it so that the ball stays in place)
- * Now simply unscrew the inner long screw from the thread and loosen or unscrew the large screw as well. During this process, the clamps have closed around the ball and the release cable is fixed in the airbag again.
- * Now simply screw a new cartridge into the thread and fold/slide the airbag neatly into the designated "compartments" - and then you're ready to go again!
8. Is the EquiAirbag® washable?
The airbag system itself must not be washed in a washing machine. However, the outer materials – made from Cordura® and softshell – can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth.
9. How much does the AIXPLORER weigh?
The AIXPLORER airbag vest weighs just around 1.2 kg, offering an excellent balance between safety and comfort.
10. What should I consider before using it for the first time?
Of course, you should seek advice from your specialist retailer or our USG team beforehand to determine the right model and size, so that it can offer you the highest level of protection.
Before wearing the airbag for the first time, you should read the instructions for use carefully. Also check that the cartridge is correctly seated in its thread and that the trigger cable is securely fastened in place. Then you’re ready to go!
